An all-levels Collegiate Shag boot camp will be held with renowned instructor and Camp Hollywood finalist, Josiah Keagy. Keagy is celebrated for his expertise in making social dancing feel comfortable and creative, a philosophy he even applies to competitions. Over three hours, attendees will sharpen their Shag technique while learning innovative concepts for making the dance more comfortable and expressive. The boot camp will include guided practice breaks, giving participants a chance to immediately apply new ideas in a social setting. This is a unique opportunity to learn from one of the best in the scene for less than the cost of a private lesson.
Josiah Keagy Competing In Collegiate Shag
Josiah Keagy is a well-known swing dancer, particularly recognized for his skill in Collegiate Shag. He’s a familiar face at competitions like Camp Hollywood and Hot Rhythm Holiday, where he’s earned some impressive placements. For instance, he and Olivia Lizardo took 2nd place in the Advanced Collegiate Shag Strictly Finals at Hot Rhythm Holiday 2023, and he also placed 2nd with Nadiya Keagy in the Advanced Draw Finals at Lindyfest 2024.
About The Cove Swing Club – Located Inside King Charles Plumbing Heating & Air
A fellow swing dancer with an HVAC business opened his warehouse to his fellow swing dancers, so look for the King Charles signage. The floor space is 1000 sq. ft. with an additional 600 sq. ft. of lounge space.
Food and Drinks
There is free, filtered water right out of taps! There’s a convenience store close by and a few restaurants within two miles.
Air Conditioning
Yes. Currently a 5 ton AC, being upgraded to a 10 ton AC. The owner of the space owns an HVAC company and he swing dances – he knows just how important cool air is. Lucky us!
Parking
Parking is plentiful, free, and located all around the property. The venue has 30 parking spots with overflow parking on the street.
Dance Guidelines
- Frequently wash/sanitize hands during the event
- Do not attend if you are experiencing COVID symptoms, feel sick, or have been exposed. Help us keep the community healthy; stay home when not feeling well!
- Remember, NO always means NO. Keep in mind that more people than usual may want to limit the number of partners they dance with in an evening. Please be respectful of others’ choices and boundaries.
- We cannot guarantee a completely risk-free environment so please, dance at your own risk taking into consideration your personal health situation.
