Come learn from one of the best! These Balboa Workshops with Mickey Fortanasce bring decades of experience in dancing, performing, competing, lecturing, and teaching to dancers of all levels. Dancers at every level can expect to come away with new tools to take to the dance floor, whether they have studied with Mickey before or this is their first workshop. About Mickey Fortanasce
After a few years of watching Lindy Hop, Shag, and Balboa at local swing clubs in Los Angeles, Mickey began his dance education in 1999. After moving to New York, Mickey began teaching local classes for the New York University Swing Dance Society. Traveling between New York City and Los Angeles during this period gave his dance education a unique perspective, as he was able to meet and watch the old-timers from both coasts on the dance floor. With this education, Mickey gained the confidence and vision that brought him to his first competitions, choreographies, and performances in 2001. Mickey currently resides in Knoxville, TN, where he continues to travel, teach, compete, and perform all over the world. Learn more about Mickey.

About The Cove Swing Club – Located Inside King Charles Plumbing Heating & Air
The Cove Swing Club is hosted in the warehouse of a fellow swing dancer with an HVAC business. Look for the King Charles signage and red light. The venue features 1,000 square feet of dance floor plus an additional 600 square feet of lounge space.
Food and Drinks
There is free, filtered water right out of taps! There’s a convenience store close by and a few restaurants within two miles.
Air Conditioning
Yes. Currently a 5 ton AC, being upgraded to a 10 ton AC. The owner of the space owns an HVAC company and he swing dances – he knows just how important cool air is. Lucky us!
Parking
Parking is plentiful, free, and located all around the property.
Dance Guidelines
- Frequently wash/sanitize hands during the evening
- Do not attend if you are experiencing COVID symptoms, feel sick, or have been exposed. Help us keep the community healthy; stay home when not feeling well!
- Remember, NO always means NO. Keep in mind that more people than usual may want to limit the number of partners they dance with in an evening. Please be respectful of others’ choices and boundaries.
- We cannot guarantee a completely risk-free environment so please, dance at your own risk taking into consideration your personal health situation.
