No partner required! Age 18+
Work on your Collegiate Shag while supporting an amazing cause, Community Paws (communitypaws.org)! This one-day intensive is split into three classes: How to Get That Classic Shag Float, Passbys and Open Position, and Flows. Instructor and dancer Julie Roman is teaching this workshop series, sponsored by The Cove to support animals in need in our community.

Limited scholarships are available; please contact Julie Roman if finances are a barrier to your participation. This workshop is part of a series sponsored by The Cove that supports animals in need within our community, with a portion of the proceeds directly benefiting at-risk animals. Your entry to the workshop also includes a free entry into a raffle for various prizes.
Age Range
The age range is typically from people in their twenties to fifties, with a skew towards the younger range.
About The Cove Swing Club
The floor space is 1000 sq. ft. with an additional 600 sq. ft. of lounge space.
Food and Drinks
There is free, filtered water right out of taps! There’s a convenience store close by and a few restaurants within two miles.
Air Conditioning
Yes. Currently a 5 ton AC, being upgraded to a 10 ton AC. The owner of the space owns an HVAC company and he swing dances – he knows just how important cool air is. Lucky us!
Parking
Parking is plentiful, free, and located all around the property. The venue has 30 parking spots with overflow parking on the street.
Dance Guidelines
- Frequently wash/sanitize hands during the event
- Do not attend if you are experiencing COVID symptoms, feel sick, or have been exposed. Help us keep the community healthy; stay home when not feeling well!
- Remember, NO always means NO. Keep in mind that more people than usual may want to limit the number of partners they dance with in an evening. Please be respectful of others’ choices and boundaries.
- We cannot guarantee a completely risk-free environment so please, dance at your own risk taking into consideration your personal health situation.
