South Central Swing is back at The Duce, one of Phoenix’s most iconic dance venues. Long known as a go-to spot for swing nights, the floor is opening up again for evenings of swing dance lessons and social dancing, bringing back a space many local dancers have missed. Expect a beginner-friendly lesson to start the night, followed by hours of social dancing to DJed swing dance music, with everything from Lindy Hop to Balboa, Shag, and Charleston showing up on the floor. With its large dance space, vintage vibe, and full bar, The Duce offers a high-energy night out whether you’re new or have been dancing for years.
You’ll learn a little East Coast with a little Lindy thrown in, then the social dancing starts immediately after the lesson ends. You’ll see a variety of different dances on the dance floor, including the Lindy Hop, East Coast Swing, Shag, Balboa, Charleston, and sometimes a little Blues.
Music The music is created by live DJs who play a range of swing music from the 1900s to the 1940’s, with a mix of fast and slow tempos. From big band to blues, the DJs work hard to bring you the best variety of swing music and welcome requests.
Age Range The average age at The Duce is twenties on up.
