Looking to clean up the spaces between your moves and make your dancing feel more connected? This evening workshop taught by Elijah dives into the transitions and essential skills that help advanced Lindy Hop and Charleston dancers move more fluidly and confidently on the social floor. After the workshop, the night shifts into DJ’d social dancing with music from DJ Peach followed by DJ Fantastic Beats and Where to Find Them.
About The Workshop and Social Dancing
During the workshop taught by Elijah Ryberg, you will learn advanced Lindy Hop transitions and essential skills into the Charleston. Social dancing starts immediately after the lesson ends, and you’ll see a variety of different dances on the dance floor, including the Lindy Hop, Six Count Swing, Shag, Balboa, and Charleston.
Music
The music is created by live DJs who play a range of swing music from the 1900s to the 1940’s, with a mix of fast and slow tempos. From big band to blues, the DJs work hard to bring you the best variety of swing music and welcome requests. Lots of guest DJs from the local scene stop in to practice and change up the night!)
Age Range
The age range is typically from people in their twenties to fifties, with a skew towards the younger range.
About The Cove Swing Club – Located Inside King Charles Plumbing Heating & Air
A fellow swing dancer with an HVAC business opened his warehouse to his fellow swing dancers, so look for the King Charles signage and red light. The floor space is 1000 sq. ft. with an additional 600 sq. ft. of lounge space.
Food and Drinks
There is free, filtered water right out of taps! There’s a convenience store close by and a few restaurants within two miles.
Air Conditioning
Yes. Currently a 5 ton AC, being upgraded to a 10 ton AC. The owner of the space owns an HVAC company and he swing dances – he knows just how important cool air is. Lucky us!
Parking
Parking is plentiful, free, and located all around the property.
Dance Guidelines
- Frequently wash/sanitize hands during the evening
- Do not attend if you are experiencing COVID symptoms, feel sick, or have been exposed. Help us keep the community healthy; stay home when not feeling well!
- Remember, NO always means NO. Keep in mind that more people than usual may want to limit the number of partners they dance with in an evening. Please be respectful of others’ choices and boundaries.
- We cannot guarantee a completely risk-free environment so please, dance at your own risk taking into consideration your personal health situation.
